The visitors then sat back and looked to hold on to their lead before half time, but Man City exploded. Outside the Brentford penalty area, they dominated possession and gained momentum. Due to an injury to Aymeric Laporte early in the second half, 10 minutes of added time was added at the end as City battled for a late win. Brentford, on the other hand, kept faith and pushed people onto the pitch during a quick counter-attack which saw Josh Dasilva send the ball to Toney, who coolly turned it into a historic victory.
