Grasshopper

Grasshopper

Grasshoppers are an insect family from the caelifera family. They are probably one of the oldest living insects eating herbivorous insects dating from the early Triassic around 250 million. Grasshoppers are ground-dwelling insects that can be easily attacked through leaps. As the hemimetabolous insect, they do not undergo complete metamorphosis; they grow out of eggs into "hoppers" or nymphs that undergo five molting stages and are more similar than the adults in each development stage.

Grasshopper Characteristics

They have large hind legs that help them jump long distances. Adult grasshoppers have two pairs of wings, namely the slender forewings and the large hind wings. Grasshoppers have large eyes with short heads and antennae. Grasshoppers generally eat plants.

Grasshopper life cycle

The life cycle of a grasshopper that undergoes the last incomplete metamorphosis is the adult. The grasshopper's wings will fully develop within 25 to 30 days and the mature nymphs will become adults.
